One Palworld Cake costs 15 Wheat — and three Ranch lines you have to set up first

The recipe reads as five items. The actual bill is longer, because Flour is not a thing you gather — it is 3 Wheat per unit through a Mill. Here is the whole chain, and a calculator for however many cakes you are planning.

Where the hidden cost sits

Four of the five ingredients are one step away from you. Flour is two. That single indirection is what makes cake feel more expensive than the recipe card suggests:

  1. Step 1 — Grow Wheat

A plantation crop, though the Flour page notes you can skip the plantation entirely and buy Wheat from a Wandering Merchant. Either way it is the only ingredient that still needs processing afterwards, which is why the real Wheat number is triple what the recipe implies.

  2. Step 2 — Mill it, 3 Wheat at a time

The Mill turns 3 Wheat into 1 Flour at 10 workload. Five Flour per cake means five conversions and 15 Wheat before you have touched anything else.

  3. Step 3 — Run three Ranch lines

Milk, Egg and Honey are all passive Ranch output from different Pals. They cost you no materials, but they do cost you Ranch slots and the Pals to fill them, and they arrive on their own schedule rather than on demand.

  4. Step 4 — Cook

Cooking Pot or Electric Kitchen, 2000 workload per cake, with a Kindling Pal assigned.

How far one cake goes

One breeding cycle consumes one Cake.

"Each breeding cycle consumes one Cake."

One source, no corroboration found. Game8 and palworld.wiki.gg’s Cake and Breeding Farm pages all omit the figure, so this is a single-source number rather than a settled one. The same page puts a cycle at "roughly two to four hours of in-game time".

What this page will not tell you

So how many cakes does a full mutation hunt cost?

Still not computable, but for a different reason than the recipe. One cycle costs one Cake (single-sourced, see above), so cakes ≈ cycles. What nobody publishes is how many cycles a mutation takes — the rates we found range from 1% to 5–10% per egg, a five- to tenfold spread. Multiply an unknown by a known and the answer is still unknown, so this calculator prices batches you choose rather than a campaign it guesses.

How long is a breeding cycle?

palworldgame.wiki says "roughly two to four hours of in-game time depending on the parent Pals rank" — single-sourced, and a range wide enough that cake-per-real-hour still is not worth computing. palworld.wiki.gg’s Breeding Farm page omits duration entirely.

How fast does a Ranch Pal produce Milk / Egg / Honey?

Production is described as passive and periodic, but no page we read publishes a rate, so the Ranch column below is a shopping list, not a schedule.

The same pattern shows up on the mutation side, where published rates disagree by five to tenfold — we compared those sources here. If you are stocking cake specifically to farm mutations, read that first: it changes how many you should plan for.

Questions

How much Wheat does one Palworld Cake need?

15. A Cake takes 5 Flour, and the Mill converts 3 Wheat into 1 Flour, so the Flour line alone is 15 Wheat plus 5 Mill runs.

What is the full Cake recipe?

5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Egg and 2 Honey, crafted at a Cooking Pot or Electric Kitchen. Three independently-checked sources state the same quantities.

What level do I need for Cake and the Breeding Farm?

The Cake recipe unlocks at technology level 17. The Breeding Farm sits higher, at technology tier 19, and also costs 2 Ancient Technology points.

How many cakes will a full mutation hunt cost me?

Not answerable yet. One cycle consumes one Cake, so cakes track cycles one-for-one — but how many cycles a mutation takes is unknown, because published mutation rates range from 1% to 5–10% per egg. The calculator prices a batch you choose rather than guessing a campaign.

How much Cake does one breeding cycle use?

One, according to palworldgame.wiki. We found no second source stating it — Game8 and palworld.wiki.gg both omit the figure — so treat it as single-sourced rather than settled.
